Chef Jonathan Tan draws flavour inspiration from his local roots. His path to plate began as a teenager moonlighting in the banquet department at some of Singapore finest hotels. Besides honing his craft in French cuisine for over a decade, Jonathan has also spent a significant part of his career developing young talent, as an instructor at local culinary schools.
Three elements shape his food philosophy: Authenticity, Culture and Emotion. Street foods in South East Asia are national treasures, but endangered ones says Jonathan whose sensibility for heritage foods sees him creating fresh interpretations of time-honoured favourites. As McCormick’s culinary development chef, Jonathan works with Insights and Product Development teams to translate trends into exciting profiles and products for our flavour solutions customers. He also champions South East Asian flavours at Flavour Forecast, McCormick’s year-round, always-on flavour news for fresh insights and inspiration from around the globe.
Jonathan is based in Singapore, at McCormick’s Asia Pacific headquarters, which is home to its new Technical Innovation Centre and sensory facilities.
