IT’S WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT

Where possible we source quality, whole-form spices and herbs. Our Sourcing organization has a combined total of more than 100 years of experience in the spice trade. We inspect every lot for extraneous matter, representing several million ingredients and product analyses each year. In addition, our spices are treated through a streaming process.

We travel to far-off lands in our pursuit of pure herbs and spices. Since our 1889 beginnings in Baltimore, it’s been our quest to search for high quality ingredients.

McCormick’s pure cinnamon is just one example, primarily sourced from the central Sumatra region of Indonesia. The cinnamon tress we sustainably harvest can take up to 20 years to develop the high volatile oils that give our cinnamon its warm, sweet, and slightly spicy flavour and rich mahogany color. The cinnamon bark is cut, cleaned, sorted, dried, aged and tested for quality at our Padang facility—then carefully packaged for a trip to the United States. At our mill in Hunt Valley, Maryland, the cinammon is unloaded, cleaned blended and bottled. The cinnamon is always tested for quality, consistency, and flavour, like every herb and spice from McCormick.

We source from over 100 countries around the world. That same commitment to quality carries all the way up the supply chain, supported by our stringent food safety standards. It’s an attribute that both you and your customers can taste, and one can transform your meals from good to great.

After graduating with French Patisserie degree from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute Sydney, Chef Tawinkarn Ariyavaradhorn (Pix) began her culinary journey in 5-star hotels and later expanded her learning horizon in various businesses including culinary school, Michelin-star French gourmet restaurants, bakery factories including food service businesses.

Three elements that shape her food philosophy are “Authenticity, Simplicity and Diversity”. She has strong passion in cultures and local ingredients – which includes many aromatic components and heat. As McCormick’s Research Chef, she works with Insights and Product Development teams to translate trends into exciting profiles and products for our Flavour Solutions customers. She also champions South East Asian flavours at Flavour Forecast, McCormick’s year-round, always-on flavour news for fresh insights and inspiration from around the globe.

Tawinkarn is based in the newly built Amata plant in Thailand. The Amata facility is larger than all our existing facilities in the Asia Pacific Zone put together to bring unparalleled quality, service and capability to established and emerging markets in South East Asia.
