Asian Sloppy Joes

This scrumptious creation starts with a savory and saucy filling made with ground beef, cooked in a medley of Asian spices and BBQ sauce. The meat is then spooned onto Chinese steamed buns also known as Mantou, providing a delightful contrast of textures.

  • Mix the minced beef, water and baking soda well. Set aside for 5 minutes.

  • Heat up the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and sauté the shallots, garlic and ginger until soft and aromatic.

  • Add the tomato paste, McCormick Turmeric Powder, and McCormick Red Pepper Flakes. Continue cooking until the tomato paste caramelizes slightly.

  • Add the minced beef mixture. Continue cooking and stirring until the beef is cooked through, becoming loose and crumbly.

  • Add the McCormick Grill Mates Chilli Pepper BBQ Sauce, light soy sauce, and if necessary, some water.

  • Simmer for about 5 minutes until meat is flavourful and sauce is thick and cohesive.

  • Spoon the meat sauce into the Chinese steamed buns (Mantou), sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve.
